Our History

We’ve been active in the transport industry since 1976, supplying quality transport solutions for over 40 years. Here are some of our main landmarks so far.

1976

Len and Linda Brumpton use the money saved for a house deposit to buy a used Volvo tractor unit (UFW 541 J) for £800.

1977

Regular work obtained through CLS shunting steel at lmmingham docks.

1978

JJV 580 P first lorry to use maroon and red livery.

1979

Move to house and current base at Barnetby. Volvo EFW 479 L is first lorry fitted with tipping gear. New tipping trailer purchased for £8000 (our house cost £7500!!).

1981

First new lorry AFE235X. Regular work is now bulk tipping.

1983

A new Don Bur tri-axle tipping trailer is purchased.

1984

New Volvo Fl0 A82GJV. Lorry works 24/7 on national miner’s strike.

1986

New Foden C 255 J FW.

1988

New Foden E 220 CFW. 

1990

New Foden G 82 HWT.

1993

Len is still operating as an owner driver and is now joined by eldest son Ian.

1995

New Foden M 998 GVL.

1998

After more than 20 years as a sub contractor it is decided that our own work and customers are needed.

2000

Opening of new coal terminal at lmmingham, some lorries now based on dock moving coal ship to store.

2001

Sugar beet and liquid fertiliser become regular traffic.

2003

New Mercedes FY03VMC. Omega Haulage is set up to run the increased dock traffic.

2005

New Foden 0005 LJB.

2006

30th anniversary celebration. Lorry and work took on from Holton Power Farmers.

2008

Road fleet expanded to eight vehicles.

2013

Lorries and work taken on from Brocklesby Estates.

2015

New Daf FXl5 CVL.

2016

40th anniversary, LJ Brumpton & Son and Omega fleet now at 40 vehicles.

2017

Len Brumpton turns 70 years of age. Ropa Maus beet loader added to beet equipment. 200,000 of beet delivered in 2017 /18 season.

2018

First Renault trucks join the company as part of fleet upgrade.
